Below is a description of what our guests have said about
us....
“Our favourite B&B in
Ireland”
My husband and I have been going to Ireland every year for the past 14
years! We initially chose Ardsollus Farm because of the
convenience to Shannon Airport. It is a 300 year old dairy farm
with amazing charm. It has grown to accomodate more guests, but
has never lost the friendly homelike atmosphere. The owners
really offer the best. They are wonderful people wanting to
anything possible to make your stay comfortable. The rooms are
furnished as if they were in a beautiful home, with all the
comforts! The breakfasts are the best we've had in Ireland. We will go back again and
again!

“Ardsollus
may be to many, the essence of a perfectly imagined”
Having stayed at
Ardsollus during my first visits to Ireland I can only recall the most
pleasant atmosphere encountered each time, once in June of 2004
and more recently May of 2009. Just a fifteen minute drive from
Shannon
Airport in
County
Clare,
the old stone walls near the entrance to Ardsollus Farm B&B lead
to a home of serenity, comfort and the warmest of Irish
welcomes. Located just down the road from
Quinn
Village with
its ancient Abbey dramatically illuminated at night, this
centuries old family property of Loreto Hannon is a charming
respite from any stress incurred by travel. With no formal check
in procedure, one might instead be greeted personally by either
Loreto or her friendly dog Jake. For those with laptops,
Internet access may be provided. However, expect no concierge,
room service, taxi or shuttle stands, blaring sound systems, or
noisy banquet events. Instead, be surprisingly distracted by the
sight of surrounding fields displaying no less than forty shades
of gentle greens providing home to grazing horses and cattle,
all in proximity to Dromoland
Castle
located adjacent to the vast acreage of Ardsollus Farm.
The four en-suite guest rooms of this
country house are comfortable, cozy and appealing in old world
simplicity. There are also two self catering apartments, in the
courtyard behind the bed and breakfast. The décor is comprised
of a mix of antiques and newer pieces used in traditional
fashion. Bathrooms are spotless with first rate showers and
water pressure. The views of the farm are picturesque as the
constantly shifting light of the Celtic sky provides subtle
drama. In short, Ardsollus may be to many, the essence of a
perfectly imagined Ireland.
Loreto personally oversees an extensive
breakfast menu offering many choices, served to guests at a
shared dining table next to an impressive antique fireplace.
Generous in portion, they are prepared with the personal
preferences of individual guests in mind. Though you may not be
hungry for much of the day after indulging, restaurants in the
Village are available for a convenient dinner or lunch.
With family photos throughout, the
atmosphere is casual and friendly without pretense. Ardsollus is
a unique place in our world, and attractive accommodation for
those unimpressed with corporate conformity and hotels that
charge exorbitant prices for extraneous amenities. And should
you be one who would delight in the genuine brogue of an Irish
voice such as Loreto's, feel captivated by peaceful pastoral
views and find it magical to sleep under the eaves of a charming
yellow room with the only the sound of rain at your window, then
you will find Ardsollus unforgettable.
“Perfect location for
Shannon
airport but still staying in the country”
A beautiful farm that
was close enough to make the trip to
Shannon
airport a breeze.
We finished our trip with a visit to
Bunratty
Castle
and seeing other sites in the area.
The farm animals made the visit memorable.
Seeing a three day old calf was worth the trip.
The towels were the thickest and fluffiest
in Ireland. The whole stay was
perfect………..
“What B&B
should be and more...”
Agree with all of the
other comments - great for Shannon
airport, amazing hospitality, lovely place.....Loreto did
everything possible to make our stay wonderful and booked us
into a wonderful restaurant in Quin - the Gallery where we had a
wonderful meal. tip though, don't let the restaurant charge your
credit card in your own currency!.............
“The best B&B
we stayed at in Ireland”
We also were thrilled
with this place - loved the peaceful setting, the beauty of the
interior, the quality mattresses, Loreto's hospitality. I wanted
to rent a bicycle but the local shop was closed on Sunday and we
were to arrive late Saturday. Loreto took care of arrangements
to have it delivered the day before we arrived so that it was
waiting for me.
We also enjoyed the fact that breakfast
was (beautifully) arranged on one large table, so that we could
easily meet and talk with the other guests. Other B&B's often
provided small individual tables as if sitting in a restaurant,
which for me missed one of the main benefits of staying ………………
“Wonderful week
at Ardsollus Farm”
My husband and I
just got back from Ireland - we enjoyed our stay at the
Ardsollus Farmhouse so much that I needed to write a review.
Loreto is such a nice hostess - the breakfasts were amazing - no
need to eat lunch most days because we filled up on breakfast.
She even set out food early when she knew we needed to get out
the door earlier than normal.
The room was clean - fresh towels every day. No problems with
noise or water pressure. You can see horses and cows from the
window. It was nice being a short 15 minute drive from the
airport. It was the perfect place to stay and tour many sights -
Cliffs of Moher, Galway, Ennis, Aran
Islands, Dingle, Kinsale.
Loreto gave great suggestions for things to do, directions,
running routes, etc. We went to Ireland 4 years ago and stayed
at different B&B's each night - and we both agreed - Ardsollus
Farmhouse was the best B&B we've stayed at in Ireland.
Our friends stayed in the apartments behind the B&B - and they
thought those were wonderful as well - newly renovated - perfect
for a family to stay in.
“Ardsollus
Farm -- a gem!”
airport, yet it's in
the country surrounded by rolling farm land. This was where my
family and I stayed on our last night in Ireland, and it was simply
delightful. The house is furnished with beautiful antiques, and
all the rooms have bathrooms attached. It was definitely the
most attractive B&B we stayed in on our 10 day
Ireland
vacation.
Loreto and Pat were both very gracious and
welcoming, and Loreto even made us a reservation at an
outstanding restaurant in Quin, called the Gallery (one of our
best meals in
Ireland! Perfect for
celebrating my in-laws wedding anniversary).
I wished we could have stayed at Ardsollus
longer, and when we plan a future trip back to
Ireland, we will definitely try and stay
longer than one night (it would be a great base for exploring
County
Clare
-- the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren).
“excellent”
